Having navigated our landfill facility online, or spent time at our site, our efforts to build a long-term sustainable facility are evident. Several upgrades have taken place over the past few years to meet user demands, to limit congestion, and improve traffic flow solidifying our commitment to service excellence.
2024 NRL Cell 6 Construction
We began construction of a new Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) cell. The construction of Cell 6 includes access roads, the construction of a 1.2-meter engineered clay liner, the installation of a leachate collection system, drainage aggregate, tire-derived aggregates, geotextile, and piping. An automated leachate extraction system with pump control is included for daily operations.
2023 NRL Entrance Upgrade
This project delivered on our commitment to service excellence whereby two new scales, ramps, and road structures were built alongside a new scale house/office building. The project was successfully completed, and all components are operational.
2022 NRL Cell Construction and Clay Caps
This project included the construction of MSW Cell 6, the construction of the west half of the Industrial Waste Cell 6, the construction of a clay cap in areas of the landfill where waste placement is up to grade under the existing clay cap, and the construction of a hydrovac facility pad and south berm upgrade. Approximately 375,350 cubic meters of material were excavated for the partial construction of the two cells. The project was successfully completed, and all components are operational.
